2. Enteranameforthenewgroupset.
Whenyoufirstcreateagroupset,therearenogroupslistedbelowtheheading.Youcandraggroupstomovethemfromother
groupsetstothenewgroupset,oryoucancreatenewcustomgroups,smartgroups,and/orcombinationgroupsunderthenew
heading.

Todeleteareferencefromyourlibrary:
1. Highlightthereference(ormultiplereferences)intheReferenceListpaneloftheLibrarywindow.
2. MoveReferencestoTrash.
Atthispoint,thereferencesaremovedtotheTrashgroup.TheTrashgroupisatemporaryholdingplace.Thereferences
arenolongerinyourlibrary,andcannotbecitedorsearched,buttheyhavenotbeenirrevocablythrownawayyet,either.If
youchangeyourmind,youcanstilldragareferencefromtheTrashbacktotheAllReferencesgrouptobringitbackinto
thelibrary.
3. Whenyouareabsolutelycertainthatyounolongerwantthereference(s)youhavemovedtoTrash,selecttheTrashgroup
andthengototheReferencesmenuandselectEmptyTrash.
4. DisplayAllReferencestocontinueworkinginyourlibrary.
Warning: Whenyoudeletearecordfromasmartgroup,EndNotealsodeletestherecordfromAllReferenceswithoutwarning.
Torestorethereference,gotoTrash,andthenright-clicktobringupamenu.SelectRestoretoLibraryandEndNotereturnsthe
referencetothesmartgroup.
DeletingaGroup
Whenyoudeleteagroup,referencesareremovedfromthegroupbutarenotdeleted;thereferencesthemselvesarestillpartof
thelibrary.
Temporarygroupsarealwaysremovedwhenyouclosethelibrary.
WhenyoudeleteanOnlineSearchgroup,itdoesnotmeanthatyoucannolongersearchthatonlinedatabase.Youhavenot
deletedtheconnectionfilefromdisk,youhavesimplyremoveditasafavorite.YoucangotoTools>OnlineSearchandselect
thatconnectionfileagain.
Todeleteagroup:
1. IntheleftpaneloftheLibrarywindow,clickonthenameofthegroupyouwanttodelete.
2. SelecttheDeleteGroupcommandinoneoftheseways:

Control+clickwithyourmouseonthegroupnametodisplayacontext-sensitivemenu,andselectDelete.
Thegroupisdeletedfromthelibrary,butthereferencesthatwereinthegrouparestillpartofthelibrary.
