NormallyyoucandictateanduseDragonvoicecommandsinanytextwindowofanyappli-
cation.However,youmayoccasionallyfindanapplicationoraspecificwindowinanappli-
cationwhereyoucannotdictateand/orwheresomevoicecommandswon’tworkorwon't

UsingDictationBoxinunsupportedapplications
TheDictationBoxopensautomaticallyifDragonnoticesthatyouaretryingtodictateinan
unsupportedapplicationorwindowwithinanunsupportedapplication.
TurningofftheDictationBox
Ifyoudon'twantDragontodisplaytheDictationBoxinunsupportedapplications
1. OntheDragonBar,selectTools >Options> Miscellaneous.
2. Clickorsay"UsetheDictationBoxforUnsupportedApplications"toclearthecheck-

TheDragonbarincludesaFullTextControlindicatorthatturnsgreenwhenyouareinan
applicationorwindowwhereallofDragon’sfunctionalityissupported.
Whenyouareinanunknowntextfield,theFullTextControlindicatorgoesout,indicating
thatyoumayhavesomedifficultyselectingandeditingdictatedtext.Also,whenyoustart
dictatingintoanunknowntextfield,theDragonBarwilldisplayamessagesaying
"Unknowntextfield;considerusing'showDictationBox'-SeeHelp.'"
Thecommandsthatquotetextfromthescreen(select<xyz>,correct<xyz>,insertafter
<xyz>…)workthankstoafunctionalitycalledFullTextControl.Thisfunctionality
dependsonDragon’sabilitytoconstantlyobtaininformationfromthetextfieldaboutits
content—forinstance,inordertoknowwherewordsandsentencesbeginandend,so
Dragoncanapplyspacingbetweenwordsandcapitalizationatthebeginningofsentences.
MoststandardtextfieldsallowfullFullTextControlcapabilities.
