way.
Remove the brush blockand inspect theslip rings forgrooves, pits, or other damage. Use a
ScotchBritepadorcommutatorstonetoremovelightwearorcorrosion.

Removal:
1. Removeroof,servicedoors,fingerguardsandpanelsasnecessary.
NOTICE
Thebackpanelmustberemovedtoremovethestator.
2. Removetheengine-generatorassembly.
3. Removethebrushblock.
CAUTION
Thebrushescanbedamagedifthebrushblockisnotremovedbeforeremovingtheend
bell.
4. Removethenutsandlockwashersonthefourstatorthroughstuds.
5. Removetheendbell.
6. Pullthestatorstraightoutandawayfromtheengine,leavingtherotorandthroughstudsin
place,takingcarenottodamagerotororstatorwindings.
Reassembly: Reassemblyis thereverse of removal.Re-lubricatethe bearingborein the end
bellwith molybdenum disulfide paste orequivalentand make surethe O-ringis placedin the
bearingbore.Torquethenutsonthethroughstudsto31ft-lbs(42N-m).

thebrushes.
RotorGroundResistance Test: Setthe ohmmeterto the highest resistancescale, or usea
megger.Touchonetestprobetotherotorshaftandtheothertooneofthesliprings.Referto
theRotorandStatorResistanceTeststableforresistancevaluesandanycorrectiveaction.
