HCC’s Institute for Corporate and Continuing Education (ICCE) serves the educational needs of 
adults in all industries and professions. Its mission is to provide quality and comprehensive Workforce 
Development, Continuing Education, and Community Outreach programs and services. Additionally, 
ICCE provides personal enrichment and lifelong programs to individuals of all ages. Ms. Yolanda 
Levell-Williams serves as the Executive Director. 
ICCE offers a variety of corporate training opportunities in business and management, communication 
skills enhancement, team building, hands-on computer & information technology, and healthcare. Off-
the-shelf programs, online training, and customized training programs are offered. 
Personal enrichment classes also are offered, including arts and leisure, fitness and dance, health 
care  and  wholistic  wellness,  languages,  and  court-approved  divorce  classes.  These  programs 
respond to community needs through seminars, workshops, and classes, focusing on interests and 
needs of individuals and groups of all ages.

HCC FALL UNDUPLICATED HEADCOUNT 
HCC’s total Fall headcount declined by 1.2% from 2011 to 2012 (from 31,194 to 30,823, respectively). 
In 2012, unduplicated headcount in credit and non-credit (clock-hour) was 30,318; the headcount was 
30,692 in 2011. 
Students were categorized as credit or non-credit based on the number of credit hours or clock hours, 
converted to credit-hour-equivalents (CHE), that they attempted during the Fall term. In those cases 
where credit hours and CHE are equal, individual courses are examined to determine whether to 
categorize the student as credit or non-credit. In Fall 2012, there was one case where credit hours 
and CHE were identical. 
Students were categorized as Rec. & Leisure if they took no other courses during the Fall term. There 
was a pattern of declining enrollment in this category during the first four years displayed below with a 
very slight increase  in 2012. In Fall  2008  there were 1,087 Rec. & Leisure students (3.9%  of 
unduplicated headcount); the number declined to 505 (1.6%) in Fall 2012. Many students who enroll 
in Recreation & Leisure  classes  do not report their gender, race, age,  or other  personal data. 
Therefore, demographic characteristics were analyzed and reported only for students in credit and 
non-credit programs.

HCC FALL HEADCOUNT: AGE 
“Traditional age” students (typically defined as those who are 18-24 years of age) are no longer the 
norm, especially at community colleges. The following table shows two age groupings using the term 
“traditional” (24 years of age or less) and “non-traditional” (older than 24) for simplicity. Of the 
“traditional age” students, HCC enrolled 1,682 students (5.6%) in Fall 2012 who were under the age 
of 18. In the five-year period shown below, the percentage of students who were under the age of 25 
was highest in Fall 2008 and lowest in Fall 2010 (62.1% and 58.5%, respectively).
