HCC SPRING UNDUPLICATED HEADCOUNT
HCC’s unduplicated total Spring headcount declined from 31,152 in Spring 2012 to 30,527 in Spring
2013 (a 2.0% decrease). Enrollment increased in each of the first three years shown in the graph and
table below but began to decline in 2012. In Spring 2013, the unduplicated headcount in credit and
non-credit (clock-hour) courses was 29,984. The Spring unduplicated headcount of students enrolled
only in Recreation & Leisure has been declining since Spring 2010.
Many students who enroll in Recreation & Leisure classes do not report their gender, race, age, or
other personal data. Therefore, demographic characteristics were analyzed and reported only for
students in credit and non-credit programs.
Students were categorized as credit or non-credit based on the number of credit hours or clock hours,
converted to credit-hour-equivalents (CHE), that they attempted during the Spring term. The campus-
specific data on the following pages used the student categories based on courses attempted at that
campus, not all courses taken at HCC.

“Traditional age” college students are often defined as those who are 18-24 years of age. For
simplicity, the following table shows two age groupings using the term “traditional” to mean less than
25 years of age and “non-traditional” as those who are 25 years of age and older. The percentage of
