Defines which version of PDF is used for the output. The exception is that if the
"PDF/A-1b"-flag is set in the file source in MFAdmin, the version is always "PDF/A-
1b (PDF 1.4)" (1).
Note: If you want to always produce PDF/A-1b type of PDF files as the result of
OCR, you should set OutputPdfVersion to 1 (i.e. PDF/A-1b). That affects also the
OCR operations initiated by M-Files Desktop. If iHQC is enabled, you additionally
need to set another registry value: "IHQCCompressionLevel = 0" (i.e. "Level I").
M-Files server (i.e., MFServer and MFServerAux services) is note needed to be
restarted in order to make changes of this setting effective.
Scanner integration – common settings
The following settings apply to both TWAIN and WIA scanning:
Table 15 - Choice between TWAIN and WIA scanning (M-Files 8.0 and later)
Value Data 0 -> off -> will use WIA
1 -> on (default) -> will use TWAIN
If this setting is on, M-Files uses TWAIN drivers for scanning. TWAIN scanning is the
default mode starting from M-Files 8.0. M-Files 7.0 and earlier support WIA drivers
Most scanners have either a TWAIN driver, a WIA driver, or both. WIA provides a
TWAIN compatibility layer that allows TWAIN-aware applications to communicate
with WIA devices. Thanks to the compatibility layer, a scanner that has only a WIA
driver is nevertheless visible to M-Files even if M-Files is running in TWAIN scanning
Some WIA functionality may not be available when scanning from a WIA device using
the TWAIN compatibility layer. If you use WIA devices and need more control over
the scanning process, set the UseTWAIN option to zero. This switches M-Files to WIA
scanning mode, and M-Files will interact directly with the WIA system.
