With its extensive back-office connectivity capability, eCopy ShareScan v5 can meet the needs
of many customers right out-of-the-box. However, customers who want take advantage of the
new advanced processing features and development tools can have ShareScan customized to
meet their unique requirements through the use of Extenders and Connectors.
A Document Extender, previously known as a “Document Service”, occurs on the ShareScan
Server during the Process step. A Document Extender does something to the scanned
document, such as clean up the image, add a Bates stamp, or extract data from the document.
In addition, ShareScan includes a number of Connectors that are included and configurable
within the Services Manager. A Connector is an application that delivers or stores a document
and can integrate that document with various business applications. Connector settings within
the Services Manager include the scan button logos, labels, file-naming, document destination,
or third- party application interaction directly from the Administration Tool.
