Details:
The MFworks TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) translator will convert
both standard TIFF files and GeoTIFF files. GeoTIFF is a TIFF based
interchange format for georeferenced raster imagery. GeoTIFF files are
available for remote sensing, GIS, cartographic, and surveying activities.
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is a standard graphic file format for
Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX platforms. The TIFF file format is almost
a universal image file format. TIFF files are raster images only.
The MFworks
TIFF
import translator will accept most Macintosh and
Windows TIFF files. MFworks may not always recognize a Windows TIFF
automatically; if the file is not recognized, a dialog box will be displayed
asking you to specify the format of the file to be imported.
This translator accepts
greyscale
images (1, 2, 4, or 8-bits deep),
paletted
colour
images (1, 2, 4, or 8-bits deep), or
full colour
images (24-bits deep).
The values in the legend will be either the palette/greyscale index number,
or the actual 16-bit colour expressed numerically (0 high bit and 3 groups
of 5-bit colour information for the red, green, and blue channels).
