Time Code Controls
Time Display.
Displays the current time of the video in HH:MM:SS:FF
format. (H = hours; M = minutes; S = seconds; F = frames.)
Start Time Code Reader.
When selected, timing information is displayed from
the time code reader, video playback, or the PC System Timer.
Send Caption/Subtitle (Keypad Plus (+)).
Click to set the In Point or Start Time
of the first word of the currently selected caption. If multiple rows are selected, start
time is set for the first, or top row. For hardware devices, this sends the selected
caption/subtitle to the device. The Plus key (+) on an extended keyboard or keypad is
the shortcut.
Send Caption/Subtitle Erase (Keypad Minus (-)).
Click to set the Out Point or
End Time of the last word of the currently selected caption. This only needs to be set
when a space is needed between captions, such as when there is a pause in the speech,
or when the captions have ended. For hardware devices, this sends a command to
erase the selected caption/subtitle from the device at that time code point. The Minus
key (-) on an extended keyboard or keypad is the shortcut.
Note: When you set an Out Point or End Time, you must set an In Point or Start Time
at the point you want the next caption to appear in the video. When a space is not
needed between captions, you only need to set the In Point or Start Time for each
caption.
Mark Time Code on Send Lines.
This associates the clock time to the In Point and
Out Point (Send) buttons. This must be selected for time codes to be written to captions
when time stamping with the In Point or Out Point buttons, or other time stamp
method. De-select this when you do not want to preserve time codes, such as when
sending to certain hardware devices.
Time Code Properties.
Opens the Time Code Reader Properties dialog. See Time
Code Reader Properties for information on the dialog options.
Seek Previous and Next Shot Change.
These buttons become active after
the shot change information has been detected for a file. To run the shot change
detection operation, select Tools > Find Shot Changes. A status bar in the bottom of the
CaptionMaker window indicates the progress:
