PDF from a Scanned Document
New settings are available if scanning from Acrobat 9. In order to use this feature, you must
have a scanner hooked up to your computer and the proper print drivers installed on your

Tip: if you scan your document as an “image” instead of a searchable PDF, then you will need
to run the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on the document. OCR will do its best to
convert the image to text.
Using OCR – Acrobat 9
Select the Document menu, OCR
Text Recognition, Recognize Text
From the Recognize Text dialog box, select All Pages or Current
Page, and click on the Edit button.
