Exporting to a 16-bit Colour TIFF

You can export a map layer to a TIFF file such that the zone values are used

to specify the colour of the resulting image regardless of the zone colour

assigned within MFworks.

Colours are generated as follows: 0 high-bit and 3 groups of 5-bit colour

information for the red, green, and blue channels:

Any cells containing the value “VOID” will be assigned to the colour that

you have specified for the “VOID” zone.

The colour information is expanded to 24 bits before being written to the file

as there is no 16-bit storage option in TIFF file specifications.

Exporting to an 8-bit Greyscale TIFF

Occasionally you may want to export a map layer as a greyscale image with

each zone being assigned a greyscale value between 0-255:

The export as greyscale option will convert the zone values to grey tones.

All values between “0” and “255” will be assigned to colours ranging from

black (0) to white (255). Values outside this range are reassigned to this

range by applying the following formula:
