EndNoteprovideshundredsofimportfiltersforavarietyofsources.Bydefault,onlythemostpopularfiltersarestoredasindivid-
ualfilesintheFiltersfolderinyourEndNoteprogramfolder.Toinstalladditionalfilters,seeInstallingAdditionalFilters.
TheFilterManagerliststhenamesoftheoriginalfilterfilesavailableintheApplications/EndNoteX6/Filters folderaswellasany
newormodifiedfiltersinyourpersonalFiltersfolder,andgivesyoutheoptiontoeditthemorselectthemas"favorites"forquick
accesswhenyouusetheImportcommand.Youcanclickanddragthecornerofthedialogtoincreasethesize.
Usethesefeaturestolocatetheimportfilteryouwanttouse:

MarkingYourFavoriteImportFilters
Whenyouhavefoundafilterthatyouwillwanttouseinthefuture,clickthecheckboxintheFavoritescolumnnexttoit tomark
itasafavorite.AllfiltersthataremarkedasfavoritesappearintheImportOptionslistintheImportdialog.Youcangettothe
ImportdialogbyselectingImportfromtheFilemenu.Thisgivesyoueasyaccesstothosefilesyouusemostoften.
Tomarkallofthefiltersforaspecificinformationprovider,clicktheFindbyCategorylistand,fromthatlist,selectthenameof
theinformationprovider.Now,withjustthatsubsetoffilterslistedintheFilterManagerwindow,clickMarkAll.TheUnmarkAll
buttonmaybeusedtounmarkallofthefiltersthatareshowinginthelist.

Therearetwowaystocopyfilters.Sinceeachfilterisaseparatefileonyourharddrive,youcancopythemasyouwouldcopy
anyfileonyourharddriveusingtheMacintoshFinder.
TomakeacopyofafilterfromwithinEndNote:
1. FromtheEditmenu,selectImportFiltersandselectOpenFilterManager.
2. SelectthefilteryouwanttocopyandclickEdit.
3. Withoutmakinganychangestothefilter,selectSavefromtheFilemenu.
4. Givethiscopyofthefilteranewname,andthensaveit.
ThefileissavedinyourpersonalFiltersfolder.Thenewfilterwillremainopen.Theoriginalfilterwillbeleftuntouched.
