Retrieving Documents
Opening a Document
in Check Out Mode
As long as a document is not checked out by another user (and as
long as you have the appropriate user privileges), you can check it
out to work on it. (Checking out a document requires the Display,
Delete Doc, Delete Page, and Add Page privileges.) You can then
make changes to the document.
After you check out a document, you must eventually check it back in
if you want your changes to be saved to the AppXtender document
repository. Until you check the document in, any other user retrieving
the document retrieves a read-only copy of the document, and the
version they receive is the version you checked out before you made
changes.
In addition, other users cannot check the document out or make
modifications until you check it back in. In order to release the
document for check out or modification by other users, you must
either check the document in or cancel the check out.
Note: Your system administrator has the ability to cancel the check out of a
document from ApplicationXtender Application Generator (AppXtender
Admin) and may cancel check out if a document remains checked out when
other users need that document. For information on checking in documents
or canceling a document check-out, refer to “Working with Checked Out
AppXtender Documents” on page 469. For instructions on canceling the
check out of a document from
AppXtender AppGen
, refer to the
"Managing Applications" section of the ApplicationXtender Core Components
Administrator’s Guide.
You have several choices for document check out (depending on the
behavior of AppXtender when you attempt to display a document):
◆
If the document appears in the Document Display view without
any additional messages or dialog boxes, and the document
modification commands (such as annotations and add page
options) are active, you have opened the document in normal
document display mode.
From the Document menu, select Check Out to check out the
document. The Check Out dialog box appears. You can add a
comment regarding the reason for check out or other information.
(This comment appears in the AppXtender Document Properties
dialog box for the document until the document is checked in or
the check in is canceled. For instructions on viewing this dialog
box, refer to “AppXtender Document Properties” on page421.)
Click OK to check out the document.
