Use the Phone’s microSD Card as a USB Drive
To transfer music, pictures, and other files from your computer to your phone’s microSD card, you
need to set the phone’s microSD card as a USB drive.
1. Connect the phone to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
2. The PC connection screen automatically opens.

If you see
on the status bar, slide it down to open the Notifications panel and touch the USB
connection notification.
3. Touch Mass Storage > Done > OK. See PC Connection Settings.
4. On your computer, the connected phone and the inserted microSD card are recognized as two
removable disks. Navigate to these removable disks and open the one containing the data from
the microSD card.
5. Do one of the following:
l
Copy files from the computer to the root folder on the phone’s storage card.
l
Copy files from the phone’s storage card to a folder on your computer or computer desktop.
6. After copying the files, unmount the removable disks (that is, the connected phone) as required
by your computer’s operating system to safely remove your phone, and disconnect the phone
from the computer.
Note: The phone will not recognize the microSD card when it is connected to a computer as a disk
drive. You will not be able to use some of the phone’s applications such as Camera or Play Music.
Use the Phone’s microSD Card as a Media Device
You can connect your phone as a media device to your computer.
1. Connect the phone to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
2. The PC connection screen automatically opens.

Update Your Phone
From time to time, updates may become available for your phone. You can download and apply
updates through the System update menu.
Update Your PRL
This option allows you to download and update the PRL (preferred roaming list) automatically.
1.
Press Home
> Menu
> System settings > System update > Update PRL.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions.
Update Your Profile
This option allows you to automatically update your online user profile information. If you choose to
change your user name and select a new one online, you must then update the user name on your
phone.

> System settings > System update > Update profile.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions.
Note: If your data services or account syncing ever seems to go out unexpectedly, use this feature to
reconnect with the network.
Update Your Phone Firmware
This option allows you to update the Android Operating System (OS) and the phone software on
your phone via an over-the-air connection.
Before Updating Your Firmware
Updating your phone firmware may erase all user data from your phone. You must back up all critical
information before updating your phone firmware.
CAUTION! Make sure to back up all data prior to updating your phone as it may be erased.
To back up your account information:
1.
Press Home
> Menu
> System settings.
2. Touch a category such as Google or Email under ACCOUNTS and then touch the account
containing the data you want to back up now.
3. Select the check box of the items you want to back up.
4.
Press Menu
> Sync now.

Note: You can back up stored text messages by forwarding them to your own phone number. Open
the messages after you have updated your firmware.

Update Your Phone Firmware
Once you have backed up all your data, use the Update Firmware option to update your phone
firmware.

> Menu
> System settings > System update.
2. Touch Update firmware. (Your phone automatically downloads and installs any available
updates. You may be required to power your phone off and back on to complete the software
upgrade.)
Confirm Your Current Phone Firmware
1.
Press Home

> System settings > About phone.
2. Locate the version number.
Reinstall Your Google Application
Your Google™ app purchases are reloaded remotely and can be re-installed after the update is
applied.
1.
Press Home

> Play Store.
2.
Press Menu
> My apps > ALL.
3. Scroll through the list of previously downloaded Google apps and choose those you wish to
reinstall.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Wi-Fi Settings
The Wi-Fi settings menu lets you turn Wi-Fi on or off, set up and connect to available Wi-Fi networks,
and configure advanced Wi-Fi options.

MAC address: Displays the Media Access Control (MAC) address of your phone when
connected to a Wi-Fi network.
o
IP address: Displays the Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to your phone by the
Wi-Fi network you are connected to (unless you used the IP settings to assign it a static
IP address).
Bluetooth Settings
Your phone’s Bluetooth capabilities let you use wireless headsets, send and receive pictures and

MaxiMZR Settings
MaxiMZR will limit the background data connection based on your personal usage of applications. It
will ultimately help conserve battery power with minimal impact to the usability of your phone.

to enable MaxiMZR. The on icon
will be displayed.
Note: Touch Apps to see the list of regulated applications.
Data Usage Settings
The Data usage menu lets you view your phone’s mobile and Wi-Fi data usage, set data limits,
restrict hotspot usage, and more.
Enable Auto-Sync Data
Enabling the auto-sync data feature allows your phone to sync all apps automatically.

the data usage.
4. Touch either of the white lines on the chart to display the tabs. Drag the white tabs horizontally to
see the data usage of a specific period within the displayed cycle.

The usage amount will be displayed just below the chart.
Set Data Usage Limit
You can also set the limit for mobile data in case you don’t have an unlimited data plan which cuts off
data at a specified threshold.
Warning: The usage displayed is measured by your phone. Your carrier’s data usage accounting
may differ and the usage in excess of your data limit plan can result in charges. Data usage limit set
in this menu is not guaranteed to prevent additional charges.
1.
Press Home
> Menu
> System settings > Data usage.
2. Select the Set mobile data limit check box. Read the message and touch OK.
Note: Disabling the Set mobile data limit feature automatically disables MaxiMZR.
3. Drag the red tab vertically to set the limit you want.

Touch the red line, select the limit by flicking the value vertically and then touch Set.

When your data usage reaches the limit, mobile data will be turned off automatically.
4. Drag the orange tab vertically to set the level you receive a warning.

Touch the orange line, select the limit by flicking the value vertically and then touch Set.

When your data usage reaches the level set with the orange line, you will see the message.
